I was reading some other posts from forum patrons and was thinking up new weapons that could be used in the game. Also what came up in my thought of this was integrating different play styles with these new weapons. I will elaborate just stick with me here.
The first idea I had was the ability to find a "trap" kit box which could give a potential of 3 different traps.
1 The first trap being a trip wire that when triggered will shock the player for a decent amount (20%) of max hp and temporarily slow to movement speed (30%) for 5 seconds.
2 A laser grid device that can be attached to a door way or between two trees or any two objects within close proximity. When a player runs through the laser grid they will get a small amount of damage (10%) from being burned and be marked by a dye or dust that makes them easily seen I.E. a fluorescent yellow that glows even in the darkest rooms. With the dye/dust effect decaying after 30 seconds.
3 I would like to call this trap "shot in the dark" it is a small pressure plate that is placed on the ground. When walked over by an enemy player it will disperse like a squid and sort of "ink" the player blinding them for a second or two and then the effect will diminish.
Finding traps in a game of IoN could take a player from no loot or poor loot to possibly getting good loot or a person with plenty of loot and items to stay that way and eliminate a true threat who had the same gear.
This will open up many doors for players who have experienced what we like to call in BR games a "bad drop" where you dropped in a place with poor loot or nothing of value was spawned there.
Some players prefer to play in the shadows and not show themselves until the last 20 to 10 people are left, some players like to bait others in and get the "easy" kills, and some players just want to utilize everything in their power to win. This is why I think traps are a good idea and could have a place in IoN.
Just looking for some input hopefully a dev or two have some words for this post.
